I began my training in 1994 in traditional woodworking techniques while restoring old houses and building furniture in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
The proven joinery techniques of old are relied upon in the construction of my furniture. I choose to make the effort and take the time to build pieces which can be called timeless in design and construction.
I select only premium grade wood for my pieces, giving them great stability and strength. Because I also harvest my own trees, have them custom-sawn, and finally dry the boards myself, I'm stocked with a large quantity of high-grade lumber. This lumber is frequently highly-figured and exhibits stunning grain patterns. The material from these specially harvested trees is rarely found in any commercial dealer's supply, which further adds to the uniqueness of my work. I've also worked hard to develop my own custom oil blend finishes, which I carefully apply by hand and buff to a fine finish with wax. While my training and operating philosophy rely upon the past, I have also grown with the times and am taking full advantage of modern technology by keeping an up-to-date shop and vendors. This combination allows me great latitude in my own designs or those of my clients, while maintaining the highest levels of efficiency and quality.
